USA's foreign trade with Belgium, exports to Belgium and imports from Belgium in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Belgium was USA's 21. most important foreign trade partner. In February 2025 Belgium represented 0.9 per cent of USA's foreign trade in goods, 1.6 % of USA's exports and 0.6 % of imports. $4.3 billion worth of trade was 9.0 per cent lower than in February of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Belgium was $918 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Belgium decreased by 12.5 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.7 billion in February 2025. Major product categories of imports from Belgium were Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), representing 19.3 percent of imports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 13.7 % and Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 11.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Belgium declined by 6.5 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.6 billion in February 2025. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), which represented a share of 6.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc872 (instruments and appliances, n.e.s., for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary purposes) 5.6 % and Sitc667 (pearls and precious or semiprecious stones, unworked or worked) 5.3 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2025

During January-February 2025, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than during the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was $8.7 billion, a decrease of 4.0 %. During January-February the value of imports was $3.6 billion. The export value was $5.1 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the value of imports during this period increased by 0.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth $788 million. In export the largest value had Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), worth being $296 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 6.8 %. The trade balance between USA and Belgiumin between January and February was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $1.4 billion.
