USA's foreign trade with Lithuania, exports to Lithuania and imports from Lithuania in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Lithuania was USA's 69. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 9 places. Amounting trade to worth of $381 million was 1.5 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Lithuania was $69 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Lithuania was 28.0 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $225 million. Major product categories of imports from Lithuania were Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), representing 38.4 percent of imports, Sitc562 (fertilizers (other than those of group 272)) 16.3 % and Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.) 7.3 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Lithuania declined by 22.0 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $156 million in February 2025. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 50.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied) 14.9 % and Sitc784 (parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of groups 722, 781, 782 and 783) 4.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2025

During January-February trade in goods with Lithuania has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-February, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $679 million. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 7.9 percent. During January-February the value of imports was $368 million. The export value was $310 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the value of imports during this period increased by 21.5 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $86 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $136 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 4.7 %. The trade balance in goods between the two countries between January and February last year had been in surplus when it had a deficit in the corresponding period of the current year. The trade deficit was $58 million.
