USA's foreign trade with Norway, exports to Norway and imports from Norway in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Norway was USA's 44. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 2 places. Amounting trade to worth of $993 million was 20.5 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Norway was $300 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Norway was 58.7 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $646 million. Major product categories of imports from Norway were Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen), representing 16.7 percent of imports, Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 12.6 % and Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 12.1 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Norway declined by 16.9 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $347 million in February 2025. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), which represented a share of 14.7 per cent of total exports, Sitc511 (hydrocarbons, n.e.s., and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives) 7.1 % and Sitc874 (measuring, checking, analysing and controlling instruments and apparatus, n.e.s.) 7.1 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2025

During January-February, trade in goods with Norway has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-February of the previous year. Growth was as high as 29.8 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $2.0 billion. During January-February the value of imports was $1.2 billion. The export value was $821 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 33.7 % and the value of exports by 24.4 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen), worth $231 million. In export the largest value had Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth being $181 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $375 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2024. At that time, the deficit was $234 million.
