USA's foreign trade with Ecuador, exports to Ecuador and imports from Ecuador in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Ecuador was USA's 39. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $1.5 billion was 34.3 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Ecuador was $5.7 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Ecuador was 8.6 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $757 million. Major product categories of imports from Ecuador were Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), representing 23.7 percent of imports, Sitc072 (cocoa) 18.5 % and Sitc036 (crustaceans, molluscs and aquatic invertebrates, whether in shell or not, fresh (live or dead), chilled, frozen, dried, salted or in brine; crustaceans, in shell, cooked by steaming or boiling in water, whether or not chilled, frozen, dried, salted o) 16.3 % of the imports.

Exports to Ecuador grew strongly over the previous year's February. The value of exports was $752 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 58.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 9.8 % and Sitc081 (feeding stuff for animals (not including unmilled cereals)) 3.1 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2025

During January-February, trade in goods with Ecuador has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-February of the previous year. Growth was as high as 39.7 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $3.1 billion. During January-February the value of imports was $1.5 billion. The export value was $1.6 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 16.1 % and the value of exports by 74.9 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $458 million. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $927 million. The domestic trade balance between the two countries was in surplus, as it had remained in deficit in January-February of the previous year. The surplus was worth $10 million.
