USA's foreign trade with Philippines, exports to Philippines and imports from Philippines in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Philippines was USA's 35. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $1.9 billion was 18.5 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Philippines was $471 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Philippines was 29.5 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.2 billion. Major product categories of imports from Philippines were Sitc759 (parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines falling withing groups 751 and 752), representing 12.0 percent of imports, Sitc773 (equipment for distributing electricity, n.e.s.) 7.0 % and Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev) 7.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Philippines were 3.8 percent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $712 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), which represented a share of 15.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc041 (wheat (including spelt) and meslin, unmilled) 9.1 % and Sitc081 (feeding stuff for animals (not including unmilled cereals)) 8.0 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2025

During January-February, trade in goods with Philippines has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-February, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $3.7 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 14.7 percent. During January-February the value of imports was $2.3 billion. The export value was $1.4 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 21.7 % and the value of exports by 4.6 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc759 (parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines falling withing groups 751 and 752), worth $271 million. In export the largest value had Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), worth being $248 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $938 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2024. At that time, the deficit was $581 million.
