USA's foreign trade with Finland, exports to Finland and imports from Finland in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Finland was USA's 53. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 2 places. Amounting trade to worth of $747 million was 4.6 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Finland was $331 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Finland decreased by 3.1 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $539 million in February 2025. Major product categories of imports from Finland were Sitc641 (paper and paperboard), representing 10.3 percent of imports, Sitc773 (equipment for distributing electricity, n.e.s.) 10.2 % and Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 8.5 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Finland were 31.6 percent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $208 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), which represented a share of 32.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied) 11.7 % and Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.) 7.5 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2025

The trade in goods between January and February of 2025 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was $1.5 billion, down 8.9 %. During January-February the value of imports was $1.2 billion. The export value was $318 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the value of imports decreased by 8.9 % and the value of exports by 9.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), worth $159 million. In export the largest value had Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth being $66 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $853 million. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2024. At that time, the deficit was $936 million.
