USA's foreign trade with Kenya, exports to Kenya and imports from Kenya in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Kenya was USA's 88. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 7 places. Amounting trade to worth of $155 million was 56.2 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Kenya was $25 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Kenya was 53.3 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $65 million. Major product categories of imports from Kenya were Sitc841 (men's or boys' coats, capes, jackets, suits, blazers, trousers, shorts, shirts, underwear, nightwear and similar articles of textile fabrics, not knitted or crocheted (other than those of subgroup 845.2)), representing 21.1 percent of imports, Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.) 20.4 % and Sitc843 (men's or boys' coats, capes, jackets, suits, blazers, trousers, shorts, shirts, underwear, nightwear and similar articles of textile fabrics, knitted or crocheted (other than those of subgroup 845.2)) 14.7 % of the imports.

Exports to Kenya grew strongly over the previous year's February. The value of exports was $90 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc511 (hydrocarbons, n.e.s., and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives), which represented a share of 63.8 per cent of total exports, Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 6.7 % and Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 6.3 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2025

During January-February, trade in goods with Kenya has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-February of the previous year. Growth was as high as 20.7 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $285 million. During January-February the value of imports was $133 million. The export value was $152 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the value of imports during this period increased by 66.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.), worth $28 million. In export the largest value had Sitc511 (hydrocarbons, n.e.s., and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives), worth being $91 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 2.6 %. The trade balance between USA and Kenyan between January and February was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $19 million.
