USA's foreign trade with Brunei, exports to Brunei and imports from Brunei in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Brunei was USA's 123. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 39 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Trade in goods between the countries of the month was considerably lower than in in February of the previous year. The value of the trade was $32 million and the drop was 56.5 %. In February the trade balance with Brunei was $21 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Brunei decreased strongly, by 57.1 per cent compared to in February of the previous year. The import amounted to $26 million in February 2025. The main part of the import value came from 511 (Sitc hydrocarbons, n.e.s., and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives) imports, this representing 94.5 percent of total imports.

The value of exports to Brunei declined considerably,by 53.5 per cent, compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $5.7 million in February 2025.

A sharp drop in trade in goods in early 2025

During January-February, trade in goods between the two countries declined sharply (-50.4 %) over the same period last year. The value of the trade was $41 million. During January-February the value of imports was $28 million. The export value was $13 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the value of both imports and exports decreased significantly. The decline in imports was 55.6 % and in the value of exports 33.7 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc511 (hydrocarbons, n.e.s., and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives), worth $25 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $2.6 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $15 million. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2024. At that time, the deficit was $44 million.
