USA's foreign trade with Venezuela, exports to Venezuela and imports from Venezuela in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Venezuela was USA's 48. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $895 million was 22.4 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Venezuela was $37 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Venezuela was 50.2 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $466 million. The main part of the import value came from 333 (Sitc petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) imports, this representing 89.5 percent of total imports. The second major category of imports was Sitc335 (residual petroleum products, n.e.s., and related materials), corresponding to the share of 6.4 per cent of imports.

The value of exports to Venezuela were 1.9 percent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $429 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 57.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc571 (polymers of ethylene, in primary forms) 8.5 % and Sitc081 (feeding stuff for animals (not including unmilled cereals)) 6.0 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2025

During January-February, trade in goods with Venezuela has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-February of the previous year. Growth was as high as 31.4 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $1.9 billion. During January-February the value of imports was $1.1 billion. The export value was $803 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the value of imports during this period increased by 73.5 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $989 million. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $479 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 1.3 %. The trade balance in goods between the two countries between January and February last year had been in surplus when it had a deficit in the corresponding period of the current year. The trade deficit was $295 million.
